Imagine

I'm not sure on how far I agree with the sarcastic line here, but it's a really good video! Check it out...

Jump around

This is the outcome of a sponanious photo session in the halls of the University of Zurich last Friday. Enjoy!

No, they are not post processed. :-) Canon is great! Unfortunately blogger is a bit of a sucker program, concerning pictures, as it always makes them pixelish...
And, very special thanks for the patient and spontanious models: Anita, Francois and Oli

Back to Unitobler!

This Monday, University called us all back into the crowded classrooms. I'm glad, really. It's my forth semester studying at the University of Bern and I have not been getting tired of it. On the contrary: It seems it gets ever more interesting. I have less of the subjects that are compulsory and more and more of the ones I can just choose out of interest. So this semesters schedule comes with things like domestic policy, European integration, Family politics (or whatever it's called in English), etc.
The one main difference this spring will be: I have almost no exams in the end, but 2 long essays to write and several speeches to give. That means my old rythm (taking it very easy during the first 2 months and studying hard core during last 4 weeks) will come to an end, and I will have to sort of keep on track with things all through the semester... :-(
Negative: always a lot of work do to.
Positive: no near heart attack because of exams in the end.
(although, the positive point might be very optimistic, seeing that I will leave for Egypt for a whole year right after exams, and therefore will have a lot of things to worry about when time comes...)

I'm actually having quite high expectations for the upcoming spring. Firstly, I would very much like to be a bit less involved with AIESEC (apart form preparing myself for my job in Egypt) in order to have more time for myself and for my university, which has always been a bit neglected. So I try to step back for a bit, knowing exactly that not too long from now, I will be doing nothing else but AIESEC. (But then, it's actually not that easy to step back: last week I was a speaker for the Info event in Fribourg, gave a selling training in Zurich and on Monday I will give a workshop for Bern...)
Secondly I also expect to get further involved in the SP (check out the beautiful new homepage!!) as there are some quite interesting things going on at the moment.

Right, now that's what is going on and I just realized that this has become a looong post. (Could there possibly be a connection to my huge desire of going back to working on my super-welfare-state-paper...?)

Moritz on the Blog!

A new, interesting person entered the honoured circle of soul strippers today. Please welcome
Moritz Leuenberger

I'm downright jealous of his 251 comments so far on his firs post... how does he do that??! ;-)

And while we are on it, there is another interesting blog out there I just found yesterday. (It's not at all on the same line though):
Mahmood Ahmadinejad's personal blog
I love the little slide show of portraits of him in the side bar. Although, it could give you the impression that he is a bit full of himself... which is of course completely misleading!

And at last - because I feel I owe this somehow - the explanation for my silence: I'm swimming in a pool of statistics, welfare state papers, and other stuff.
You may expect the silence to go on for just a bit longer.

an adventure lies ahead

It's out and official: I have been selected as Members Committee Vice President in Egypt for the term 2007 - 2008.

It's a crazy piece of news provoking contradicting feelings. I'm happy, somehow proud, overwhelmed, full of anticipation, ready to explore and discover, wondering, at the same time I'm scared and sad about having to leave Switzerland with my family and friends - and the city I love so deeply - Berne.

I will be leaving in the end of June after my exams, and stay in Cairo for a full year. I sure will be happy if some of you came to visit... :-)

out of my hands

The last step I had to take on the road of an MC candidate is done. The selection interview. I'm not gonna go as far as to make a statement on how I felt it went, partly because I'm not yet sure what my feeling is, and partly because what would be the use, really?
The interview conditions where interesting and worth mentioning anyhow. It was done by the mean of skype which kept on breaking down every few minutes. When it was working however, I couldn't hear them since they had a microphone problem. So the questions were typed in Skype chat and I talked my answers into my laptop screen. Not a killer, just an awkward situation.
Now it's out of my hands. The final duty is just to wait...
